What We Believe
Overview
By name we are non-denominational, welcoming and accepting of all people, however we are conservative Baptist in beliefs and teachings. Although conservative in beliefs and teachings we are contemporary in our methods, practices, atmosphere and philosophy of ministry.
The Bible
We believe the 66 books contained in the Bible are the inspired Word of God.
The Scriptures are Holy coming from the mind of God to the mind of Holy men as the Holy Spirit breath His every Word upon them. The Bible is without error, or contradiction. It is the final authority in all matters of faith and life.
God
We believe there is but “One” God that exists in three persons, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Within the Triune God each are distinct yet co-equal. God is all powerful, all knowing, and ever present. God is the creator and sustainer of all things.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is God, the second person of the Trinity. Christ came to earth and became a man. Born of the Holy Spirit through the Virgin Mary. While on earth, He was fully God and fully man, yet without sin. He is the Living Word of God.
We believe Christ’s purpose in coming to earth was to demonstrate God’s love for all people by offering Himself as a sacrifice to die for the sins of all on the Cross. Christ paid the price for all of our sins. Out of love for all He gave Himself willingly taking our place and dying on our behalf so by a person placing their faith in Him as Savior they can receive eternal life. Christ is Savior to all who will believe.
We believe death had no power over Christ and on the third day after His death he was resurrected with a glorified body from the grave. After His Resurrection He revealed Himself to his disciples, talking and living among them. Forty days after His Resurrection He ascended back to Heaven where He is now exalted at the right hand of God the Father. He continues to care for those who believe in Him acting in Heaven as our advocate and intercessor.
We believe Christ will come again to earth one day as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. During this time, He will set up His 1000-year earthy kingdom and reign upon the earth.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He is spoken of in scripture as a person yet He is the invisible Spirit of God. Before Jesus ascended back to heaven He promised to send another to take His place to be with and live in the hearts and minds of believers. This would be the Holy Spirit. The moment a person admits to God they are a sinner and they accept in their heart Christ as Savior it is the Holy Spirit that brings an immediate rebirth to the spirit of a person. At the moment of salvation, the Spirit brings to life our spirit to be reconnected with God’s so we can have relationship with God. For the believer the Holy Spirit is our guide to truth and life. He is the believer’s teacher, comforter, source of power and strength. Presently the Holy Spirit brings conviction to the world concerning sin. The Holy Spirit by His invisible power “draws” all who are saved to Christ. No one is saved without the working of the Spirit in their heart.
Salvation
We believe “Salvation” is a gift from God. It cannot be earned, obtained by good works, ceremony, or baptism. What is Salvation? Salvation is God rescuing or saving people from their sins. Sin separates a person from a relationship with God. Everyone is born a sinner, and has a sin nature. A person by faith, must admit to God they are a sinner and believe with their heart in Christ as their personal Savior. Those who accept Christ as Savior will be saved from death, living forever throughout eternity in heaven.
The Church
The founder of the church is Jesus Christ. It belongs to Him. The church is composed of persons whom have genuinely put their faith in Christ as their Savior. The church is a refuge for God’s people as they live in a dark and sinful world. The church is not a place of religion, nor is it a place of just social activities. The church is a place that proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The primary mission of the church is to Glorify God, seek and save the lost and make disciples of Jesus Christ. The main focus of the church is to teach, train and spiritually inspire believers to become fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ. We believe the church should be involved in taking the message of Christ around the world. The church also exists to worship God in Spirit and in truth.
Church Ordinances
We believe Christ only gave instruction for two ordinances to be carried out by the church. One is “Believer’s Baptism.” The other is the “Lord’s Supper or Communion”.
